The biggest downside to an MVNO is that your data might be deprioritized, meaning you’ll see slower mobile internet speeds. But this tends to happen during busy times of the day, so you can expect zippy 4G LTE or even 5G speeds otherwise. Reach also makes sure its monthly charges are fair and square, meaning you won’t pay for extra data you didn’t use. Let’s say you pick Reach’s 10 GB plan but used only 2 GB last month. However, we doubt many folks will need that much data each month. Most of us use about 11 GB of data each month on average. That’s because the Best Fit plans charge you only for the data you use. So if you sign up for the Best Fit 10 GB plan, you’ll pay the price of the Best Fit 2 GB plan if you use only 2 GB of data or less in a month. You also get an extra 5 GB of data to share each month if you add three or more lines to your Best Fit plan. So if you’re a parent sharing Reach’s 10 GB plan with an app happy teen, you won’t get 10 GB of your own data to use each month. (And you may end up not even seeing half of that data either, if your teen is glued to their phone.) But maybe you like to stream videos on your train ride to work or get stuck sitting on the toilet playing Candy Crush. (Hey, 64% of Americans admit to it.) In that case, one of these other family plans or Reach’s unlimited plan might offer a better bang for your buck. And don’t forget that Reach will automatically swap you to a lower-cost (or higher-cost) plan depending on how much data you actually use during the month. So if you’re watching those gigabytes, your bill can get cheaper. That means you should get service almost anywhere in the US. If you do want to buy a phone from Reach, they offer a range of affordable devices. None of these phones will knock your socks off in terms of features, but it beats paying upwards of $1200 for a new phone.
