The gang’s hare-brained money-making schemes start as well-intentioned projects with disastrous results, but over 13 seasons, all good intentions are thrown to the wind, as the gang resorts to backstabbing, drug-dealing, and underage alcohol service, just to make a dime. On paper, that plot sounds more depressing than Requiem for a Dream, but Sunny always manages to keep the laughs rolling over all 13 seasons. It won’t agree with anyone who struggles to stomach the cringe comedy of shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, but the show’s long streaks of degenerate behaviour make its rare nuggets of positivity all the more valuable.
